Twilight of the Album Sharing

Just wanted to share an album from Harakiri, which I play guitar in (when we decide to be active). Please enjoy.

SATAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!

Deicide was kind of a joke to me when I first heard them. The satanic shtick was laughable, but I still enjoyed it. Then I kind of became obsessed with everything they did up through the Once Upon the Cross album. I even dug a bit of Serpents of the Light. Since then, meh... I think they quit caring at that point. Legion was more technical than Once Upon the Cross and would be classified as my 2nd fave Deicide album, but the god damn songs on OUTC are just well written, classic, Floridian death metal at its finest; therefore, it stands as my favorite Deicide record and one of my favorite death metal albums in general. I can understand some of the hate and lack of respect this band gets due to some of the bullshit they ended up releasing, but fuck. Listen to this song and try not to get your satanic headbang on.

7.5 Q's with Kent Hiltz

Mr. Hiltz has been a bro to this dude for a long ass time.... he deserved to answer some shitty questions!!

1. so whats been up with Wrecked lately besides gettin' the ladies all, well, happy? What other projects are you working on?
Wrecked has been rehearsing for a Battle of the Bands that happens on Jan 15.  It's at Scores Bar and Grill in Columbus, IN.  Even if we do not win I am sure to have some hellacious, fried bar food.  We are also trying to get a distro deal and some national opening gigs through a friend of ours in Cincy.  We are hoping that 2011 is a productive year for Wrecked.  I am not currently working on any other projects.  I did dust off some Harakiri demos for the new album to see how much stuff we have and I can't wait to unleash it upon the human population.  It may result in mass suicides or homicides but we have to do it.  People want and need to die.  Other than that, I sing for Krazyfly and play guitar for Taken.  They are cover bands so I don't necessarily call them "projects."

2. remember when we were on tour and you brought canned food but no can opener? why would you do that?
I think I was probably high when I packed my bag.  Nonetheless, I did find ways to open the cans until I stole a can opener from a grocery store.  Giant icemaker corners in hotels work pretty well.

3. what bands have you been digging lately and why?
Lately, I have been listening to a lot of Tool.  Taken decided that they wanted to play "The Pot" and rather than buy just one Tool album I bought three.  The songs "Aenima" and "The Grudge" are really sticking with me.

4. what is there to do in southeast Indiana?
There are lots of things to do in SE IN.  One of my favorites is driving to Cincinnati or Indianapolis to find something to do.  Sometimes I'll even get on a plane and fly as far away from SE IN as I can afford.  Another thing is to visit Lil' Charlie's Restaurant in Batesville where they cook up the best food in town and brew their own beers which means that you can buy growlers there on Sunday and take them home.

5. you are a man of many musical talents. you can play guitar, drums, sing and probably play woodwinds or something. what do you suck at?
I suck at punting footballs if I don't stretch my legs first.  I suck at Greco-Roman wrestling.  I suck at keyboards.  I also suck at being a millionaire because it still hasn't happened.

6. quick run down on your guitar rig please...
I mainly play a Dean Black Gold Flying V.  My pedal board includes a Boss TU-2 Tuner, Boss 7-band EQ pedal, Crybaby(the ORIGINAL), Digitech Whammy, Boss Chorus, Boss Delay.  My amp is a Carvin Legacy with 16 Ohm Legacy Cabinet.  I use Jazz III picks.

7. favorite Doors song?
"5 to 1."  I swear that Ace Frehley stole the solo for "She" from this song.  Robbie Krieger is a badass.

7.5    ....from Lance Armstong?
One testicle.  I rest my case, your boner.

Kent says: "Check out www.officialwrecked.com if you would like to get a virus on your computer.  If you do not want viruses on your computer then look up Wrecked on Facebook and make sure that you have a better antivirus program than that shitty Norton."  and thats his cute pup up there!!

rotting your mind with 1994 doomy music

Mindrot was a doomish metal band from Cali that was together in the 90's. They released a few CD's with my fave being the 3 song Forlon ep on Relapse in 1995. That's what this post is about: to inform you its damn good and should not be forgotten. Its doomy, full of despair, and has cool brutal vocals. They even kick it up a bit throughout showing off some Bolt Thrower-esque and hardcore/punk influence. Then they'll get ya as they go into some gothy vocal thing for a moment. Then its back again. It all works. Its intense. The intro into the first song, "Forlorn", into when the riff kicks in is enough to hook me each time I pop this in. Its enough to make you slit your wrists and bleed out with your headphones on.
