Whiskey & Mineral Water

you read it right, whiskey and mineral water.
it's a fucking great combination.
you know what else is a great combination?
booze and music.
last night i let my new booze combination of the month take me on a journey with Ennio Morricone.
his best known work is probably the score for "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly"
you know, that wah-e-ah-ee-ahhhhhh, wha wha whaaaaaa, song

good shit!  who knew that tumbleweeds actually sounded good too?

but i have these italian movie soundtracks that just kick ass.
-Le Clan des Siciliens
-Escalation
-a 2CD Essential Collection put out on Ipecac (it's got like over 20 movies worth of tunes) (peep his ipecac stuff here)
-and also, the glorious, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly (which, for some reason, seems to be the loudest mastered vinyl i have)

Morricone's sounds range from dirty porn to gangster to mariachi to big band to just about everything you can think of.
little kid chorus lines, sultry female vocals, oddly loud nylon string acoustic guitars, such a mix of interesting sounds.
and i don't think there is any Western film with a more recognizable melody than the main title of the above mentioned film.
i would highly recommend the 2CD Ipecac Collection.  no music from his Westerns on it, just the swankweirdpsychadelic stuff from probably-really-creepyandsexy films from the 60's

and when i ran out of Ennio Morricone records, i blasted Van Halen's Diver Down becasue it just felt like the right closer.

being a freak for freaky music is fun.
listen to some Morricone's tunes here!
end your drunken eve watching this!
